Sound insulation with Cavity Wall Insulation
The uses of Polyurethane Spray Foam are endless.
Recently, we injected spray foam into the wall cavity for an industrial client.
It was the request of the client to Sound Insulate the cavity between walls to dampen the noises created within the factory environment that large drum rollers and concrete mixing machines created.
The application required the 50mm thick cavity to be filled complete using a low density closed cell polyurethane spray foam.
In addition to the core feature being to sound insulate we also provided additional benefits such as:
- - Thermal insulation
- - Moisture barrier between walls
- - Sealing off windows from water penetration around reveals
- - Minor Structural benefits in bonding to the structure thus increasing rigidity
The application itself took 15 minutes to complete approximately 50m2 of cavity walls.
The insulation benefit for construction will be 50mm of Polyurethane Sprayfoam, thus giving an additional R-Value of 2 to the external walls.
